Clark County takes Steps to Health

Charlene Welch of Community Choices and Steps to a Healthier Clark County has a new idea to encourage walking instead of driving in her community.  The "Take Ten" program, featured on the Clark County "Walking - All Reasons, All Seasons" website, invites participants to take 10 trips by foot that they normally would have taken by car.  Participants who track their trips not only feel the benefit of healthy choices in their daily routines, but are eligible to winumbrellas and grocery gift cards.  Charlene comments that the program "will build awareness of walkability issues and help us build our grassroots base."

Live in Clark County and want to try it yourself?  Take ten!

Overheard

“Without having some negative consequences, people don’t pay attention and will forget they’re driving in a school zone. They occasionally need a friendly reminder from their local law enforcement.”

-- Sergeant Rick Dobrow
